The Swabian university town is one of the most important industrial locations in southern Germany. The city is shaped above all by the large factories of industrial companies, and so there are numerous companies in Augsburg with some centuries of tradition. The fair is today the third largest in Bavaria after Munich and Nuremberg. As a Swabian metropolis, Augsburg offers everything a company needs to do business successfully: an extensive knowledge infrastructure with universities and research institutes, attractive commercial spaces and a high quality of life that make the acquisition of specialists easy.
The topic of networking plays an important role for Augsburg as a business location. As the 3rd largest city in Bavaria after Munich and Nuremberg, Augsburg is directly connected to the most important long-distance road in the city, Bundesautobahn 8. In addition, Augsburg is connected to three federal highways: the B 2 and B 17 lead north-south, the B 300 east-west through the city. The entire city area is also part of the Augsburg Transport Association (AVV), which extends across the whole of Central Swabia, and is accessed by several tram, city bus and night bus lines. Augsburg Airport is located in the northeast of the city.
