Mill Hill is a suburb of London and part of the Borough of Barnet in the north-west of Greater London. The area was traditionally part of the English county of Middlesex and was very sparsely populated until the middle of the 20th century. Mill Hill became popular as a semi-rural retreat close to, but well outside, central London from around the beginning of the 19th century. Today, Mill Hill is an affluent suburb and a busy but pleasant area towards the outskirts of Greater London. Modern day Mill Hill is comprised of three distinct but connected regions, namely the areas around Mill Hill Village, those around Mill Hill Broadway and those close to what is known as Mill Hill East.

Mill Hill is primarily a residential district but it plays a key role in economic activity carried out in the London Borough of Barnet and there are numerous small-to-medium sized companies using office space in the area. Among the businesses based in Mill Hill are the Air Conditioning Company, the human resources experts of SK HR and the public relations firm LDA Communications. A clear advantage of offices in Mill Hill is their proximity to parts of central and west London, which are easily accessible by road or via the London Underground’s Northern Line station at Mill Hill East.

Things to do in Mill Hill

As part of the London Borough of Barnet, Mill Hill is well served in terms of visitor attractions and great places to spend time. Among the best sites to visit in the area are the RAF Museum near Colindale and the Arts Depot, a multi-purpose cultural venue in North Finchley. There are also some tremendous parks and golf courses in the borough, not least Mill Hill Park and Finchley Golf Course. Another much-loved local destination in Mill Hill is the Arrandene Open Space and Featherstone Hill, which are comprised of open fields, meadows and woodland. Mill Hill has some great cafes and eateries too, including the Delisserie, the Fratelli Deli Café and Layla’s Restaurant near Mill Hill Broadway. For a friendly welcome and traditional pub atmosphere try the Adam & Eve or the Three Hammers, both of which you’ll find along The Ridgeway, which cuts right through the heart of the town.
