Saarbrucken is a city and the capital of the state of Saarland, in Germany. The city borders Dillingen to the west and Neunkirchen to the north-east. Saarbrucken retains a French feel due to its long period under French administration. Sights to see in the area include the stone bridge across the Saar which was built in 1546, the Gothic church of St Arnual, and the 18th-century Saarbrücker Schloss castle.

Transport Information

Saarbrücken Airport is a major international airport located just 15 km (9 miles) from the city centre. There are regional bus and train services from the airport. Saarbrücken has an excellent public transport system that includes city buses and a tram line. Saarbrücken is served by the national German train system. There are direct trains from Frankfurt, as well as to Paris. Traveling through the rest of Germany requires a transfer in Mannheim.
