Croatia is a country situated in the Balkans in central Europe. It is to the east side of the Adriatic Sea, to the east of Italy, and is bordered by Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the north, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the southeast, Serbia to the east, and Montenegro to the south. Croatia offers historical town centers, amazing architecture, coastal and continental differences, and modern urban cities.

Business Information

There are 205 companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organisations in Croatia pursuing scientific research and development of technology. Among the scientific institutes operating in Croatia, the largest is the Ru?er Boškovi? Institute in Zagreb. There are many executive office options for businesses that support this industry, which includes companies such as DOK-ING - robots, firefighting and mine clearance vehicles, and electric cars. Tourism in Croatia is another important part of the economy. The government encourages various niche markets, the most significant being nautical tourism, due to the numerous marinas with more than 16 thousand berths. Croatia also promotes cultural tourism, relying on the appeal of medieval coastal cities and the numerous cultural events taking place during the summer. Croatia consistently ranks as one of the most popular tourist destination in the world.

Entertainment And Dining Out

Croatian cuisine is quite diverse. In the eastern continental regions (Slavonija and Baranja) spicy sausage such as kulen or kulenova seka is a must-try. Cobanac, or shepherd’s stew, is a mixture of several different kinds of meat with a lot of red spicy paprika. In Hrvatsko Zagorje and Central Croatia, pasta filled with cheese called strukli, is a famous delicacy, as is purica s mlincima (baked turkey with a special kind of pastry).

Transport Information

There are nine commercial airports in Croatia. Croatia’s rail network connects all major Croatian cities, except for Dubrovnik. If you want to visit Dubrovnik, you will have to travel by train to Split, and then go on the bus for Dubrovnik. A very comprehensive coach network connects all parts of the country, both for inter-city and regional service. Croatia is blessed with a beautiful coastline which is best explored by ferry. Access to the hundreds of islands is typically accomplished by ferry or catamaran.
