Located in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy, the city of Brescia is the administrative capital of the province of Brescia and the second largest city in the area after Milan. Its strategic location at the foot of the Alps makes it an important tourist destination with thousands of travellers flocking to the area every year. The proximity of major tourist hotspots such as Lake Garda and Lake Iseo significantly adds to the trade in the region. Brescia is home to several stunning castles and churches such as the Il Castello di Brescia and Duomo Vecchio di Brescia, which are both must-visit attractions in the city.

Business Information

Brescia is considered the third largest industrial location in the region and houses big companies such as Beretta, which is famous for its firearms. Businesses related to the automotive, engineering, motoring and machine tools industries also have a presence here. A large portion of the office space in Brescia is occupied by banks and financial institutions. The retail shopping district is quite an active one, especially for products such as Italian jewellery and garments.

Entertainment And Dining Out

If you are in good physical health and wish to be adventurous, you can try one of the several hiking and biking trails in the region. If this kind of entertainment is not for you, a visit to the city’s medieval historical centre or to the open market at Via San Faustino is an ideal alternative. Eateries such as the Osteria al Bianchi are awesome places to sample authentic Brescian cuisine. If you’re in the mood for some South American fare, you can head to the Tempio Inca Pizzeria, or try the Due Stelle for delectable Italian delights.

Transport Information

The closest airport that serves Brescia is 20 kms away at Montichiari. This airport provides connectivity to limited destinations only. For prominent international destinations, the airports at Verona VillaFranca and Milan Linate can be used. Brescia is well connected to other Italian centres through the European railway network as well as the low-cost Regionale Commuter trains. The autobus system is the best way to get around within Brescia.
